GM Renier Castellanos will hold a 4-day camp exploring the chess of José Raúl Capablanca and his enormous influence on positional play.

Capablanca is often remembered as the great simplifier and endgame master, but his greatest strength was arguably his extraordinary positional understanding. His famous exchanges and effortless endgames were often the result of brilliant piece play, accurate evaluation and a deep understanding of strategy.

Throughout the camp, we will study his legacy, strategic ideas, piece play and exchanges, using his greatest games to understand how he created advantages and converted them with remarkable precision.

The aim is not simply to study Capablanca’s games, but to understand why his chess worked so beautifully and what modern players can learn from one of the greatest positional players in chess history.

4 days. 12 hours. One of the clearest examples of positional chess ever created.

The training will take time between 17.00 and 20.30 London time each day (09:00-12:30 California, 12:00-15:30 New York, 18:00-21:30 CET). There will be three sessions of 60 minutes each, with two 15-minute breaks between them. The camp will offer you a full 12 hours of training.

The price for participating will be €148 for existing members of Killer Chess Training and €297 for everyone else (includes a month’s complimentary membership of killerchesstraining.com).

The camp is free to those who are new yearly members or for existing members who renewed their membership after the 26th of June 2026. All other members need to purchase their participation ticket!

Killerchesstraining.com offers daily lessons and about 9-14 lessons each week, on openings, middlegame and endgames, as well as analysis of games and two weekly homework assignments.
