After a long absence, GM Boris Gelfand is returning with his course, The Tortoise Method. His next class will happen this Saturday, the 1st of November, from 5 PM UK time.
Please note that, due to the end of daylight time saving, the classes with GM Swayams and GM Stany will now start 1h earlier. The new starting time is 3 AM UK time.
A reminder that Andras’ course Structures and Strategies in the Ruy Lopez is over and the Chesstempo file fully updated. The course will be available for all members to watch for 3 more weeks, until the 17th of November, after which it will be removed. We will be working on making it available in the shop.
Next week, the online camp with GM Swayams will start. He will cover the topic of defence between the 6th and the 9th of November. The camp will include a total of 12 hours. The recordings of the camp will be made available to everyone who will buy the camp of receive it as a welcome gift.
New yearly members and renewals between the 25th of September and the 6th of November will receive this camp for free, as a welcome gift. Everyone else who wants to participate can purchase the camp in our shop. If you are a member, remember to log in to your account to get the camp at a discounted price!

More information about the 2026 in-person camp has now been uploaded on our website. We will slowly be updating with more details soon. If you would like to join us, we invite you to fill in the registration form, here.
The dates of the camp will be 17-24 of May, and the location will be the 4* resort Zoraida Garden in Roquetas de Mar, Spain. Your trainers will be GM Jacob Aagaard, GM Renier Castellanos and GM Julen Arizmendi. The camp will be open to both members and non-members of the academy.
The European Club Cup recently came to an end in Rhodes, Greece. Many members participated and we hope that everyone enjoyed their experience there! After her recent individual bronze medal in Batumi, Alexandra Kosteniuk won the gold medal together with her team. In the Open section, GM Ivan Sokolov won gold as captain and player of SuperChess.
The World Seniors Championships are under way in Gallipoli, Italy. Thorsten Cmiel is playing in the 50+ section and is currently on 2.5/6. We wish him the best of luck for the final rounds!
The closed IM tournament Alexander Alekhine Memorial started in Portugal. Long-time member Andrzej Krzywda is playing and currently has 1 point after 2 rounds. You can follow his games here.
Apaar, Aradhya and a bunch of former members are playing Capechecs Open, in Cap d’Agde, France.
The World Cup is starting this Saturday, the 1st of November! We will be watching and following closely all the action, but will especially be rooting for our members and coaches. Our focus will be on Sam Shankland, Awonder Liang, Velimir Ivic, Alexander Motylev, Kirk Ghazarian and Prin Laohawirapap. Good luck to all of them, we hope to be following them for as long as possible! Watch their games here.
