Sicilian Najdorf Fundamentals
GM Jacob Aagaard
After building a repertoire in the Sicilian Najdorf over November-January, it is now time to talk about common themes in the opening. As a starting point, this is a sharp counter-attacking opening. We certainly run the risk of losing – and sometimes quickly. But, we can also play for a win in a way those choosing the Petroff or Berlin cannot.
As a starting point this course is planned to be as basic as possible and each class being about 80-90 minutes long. We have planned eight lessons to start, but don’t keep us to it!
- Typical sacrifices for White
- Typical sacrifices for Black
- Opposite side castling and pawn storms
- Leaving the king in the centre
- Typical pawn breaks
- The …e5 and …e6 pawn structures
- Typical endgames
Below you will find the files Jacob shared during the class and underneath the video recordings of the classes.
