Closed Positions

Closed Positions Camp

Closed Positions

Schedule: August 25-29, 16:00-19:00 UK time (8:00-11:00 California, 11:00-14:00 New York, 17:00-20:00 CET). There will be three 50 minutes sessions with two 10-minute breaks.

In this five-day camp, Sabino Brunello will focus on closed positions and how to approach them. These occur when the center is locked by pawns, creating a static battlefield where the two armies are separated and direct contact is minimal. As tactics are not possible for a while, making progress in closed positions requires long-term planning, precise maneuvering, and a deep understanding of positional concepts.

Understanding which pawn break is desirable and simple but deep concepts like good/bad squares is the key factor to success. On each day, Sabino will look at different closed positions structures arising from different openings.

The schedule includes:

-Day 1: Symmetrical English

-Day 2: King’s Indian

-Day 3: Spanish/Ruy Lopez

-Day 4: Slav

-Day 5: French/Caro Kann

The camp will take place early evenings 25-29 August, with 2.5 hour lessons each day. It will offer you a full 12.5 hours of training.
