Three new classes and more medals!

Dear Friends,
 
We have three new classes for you this month. After the simul on Sunday, GM Karthik Venkataraman will give three lessons on Killer Chess Training. He will show some of the most important moments from his victory in the Indian Championship 2024.

If you are a yearly member, please remember to send us your ChessTempo username! We have a lot of requests on ChessTempo, but we cannot accept them. We need to know who you are in order to add you as a student! So, please contact us via email, forum or Facebook to get your ChessTempo account sorted out.

Moving on to members’ results, this week’s big news comes from the Commonwealth Championship. Arshiya increased her medal count to 4. After winning gold in all 3 time controls (rapid, blitz and classic) in U14, she moved on to bigger pray. In the U20 category, she brought home the silver medal. Congratulations, Arshiya, we are all very proud of you!

In the U12 category, Mayukh Majumder also brought home 3 medals! He won gold in classical and rapid and bronze in blitz. Mayukh has also been solving and submitting the homework consistently. Hard work pays off! Congratulations, Mayukh!

From 24th August to 1st September, the European Amateur Chess Championship took place in Croatia. In the Under 1700 category, long time member Ilker Pazarcioglu won the silver medal. He scored 7 points and tied for first, but has worse tie-breaks. This is the second medal for Ilker in the European Amateur Championship. He won bronze in 2022. Congratulations to him!

As you all know, the Olympiad is about to begin in Budapest. Many of our coaches and members are in Hungary, ready to start the fight on Wednesday. We wish them all the best of luck! We will be watching and rooting for every one of them!
