Sam and Stanislaw

We are very happy when we see our members succeed. Kushal, one of our first students, played in Abu Dhabi Open 2024, where he earned his first IM norm with two rounds to spare and missed narrowly a GM norm by half a point! Well done to Kushal and his private coach GM Ankit Rajpara! The hard work is just beginning!

Another member of our academy scored his second IM norm, also missing the GM norm narrowly. We want to congratulate him for his hard work during classes and homeworks!

Renier has been fighting on the 3rd board in the Spanish League against a strong line-up. He scored 3.5/7 and gained 2 rating points. His team, AIMPULSA GRANADA started as the 2nd worst ranked, but finished 4th, defeating the leaders in round 6. He will be back this week to present Friendly Homework and Tactical Targets. We have more great news – Renier’s first book Playing the Nimzo-Indian was published this week!

Yahli Sokolovsky played in Dortmund. He scored 7/9, finishing 5th and gaining 7 rating points.

Doug has been playing in the St. Louis Class Championship. He tied for first with promising St. Louis junior player Alex Zhang who scored a spectacular win over new SLU GM Nikolozi Kacharava.  He won a very nice strategic game in the last round, which you can see here .

Have you been playing any tournaments? We want to know!

See you in class!
