This Saturday we will have a Playing Position simul, held by GM Sabino Brunello. All games will start from a given position where Sabino will have to defend and inferior position. The link to the simul will be available 10 minutes in advance on the academy website. It will also be sent through a private message on lichess.
To join the simul, you will need to be part of this team. Please mention your name and membership email in your request, otherwise your request will not be accepted. Please be there on time, as it isn’t possible to join the simul once it started. Don’t leave the game or close the game window while you play. You will not be able to rejoin the simul.
Julen is playing the Spanish team Championship, so he won’t be available on Thursday for his Analyse My Tournament class. We have moved it to Sunday, the 17th of August, from the same time (7 PM UK time).
The online camp with GM Sabino Brunello will start on the 25th of August. It will include 12.5 hours of classes. All details about the camp can be found here.
The camp is free for all members who purchased a new yearly membership or renewed their old one after our last online camp in February. Kavin Venkatesan in Irish champion! Four players finished tied for first, with 6.5 points. Top two according to tie-breaks went to playoff, which Kavin won 3-1. You can find all results here.
Shahil had a fruitful summer and raised his rating from 2358 to 2413 after playing 5 tournaments in Europe.
Julen and Renier are playing the Spanish Championship – Primera Division. This is the 2nd league in Spain and they are both fighting for ascension to Division de Honor, although with different teams. As luck would have it, they both play on the 3rd board and met in the 3rd round. It was a fighting draw. You can watch all the games live here. Results can be found here.Â
Brendan is in Bruge, playing in the seniors section of the Brugse Meesters 2025.
Szymon is in Valencia, fighting it out in Mislata Open.Â
