There’s been an interchange of classes this weekend. Jacob has kindly accepted to switch days with Renier, who will be travelling this Saturday. In conclusion, the Friendly Guide to Positional Play will happen on Saturday 14th from 4 PM UK time. Tactical Targets has been moved to Sunday 15th from 10 AM UK time.
More information is available on the website about two of our summer activities – the Summer Homework Club and Jacob’s Camp.
The Summer Homework Club will happen between the 30th of June and 1st of August. We have decided to make it a month long instead of 3 weeks, as it was last year. A novelty this year is that we will use both friendly and killer homeworks. 4 days will be for friendly homeworks, one for killer. Full details and rules about submission deadlines are available on the dedicated page. This is also where you will find the pdfs for download and the videos with solutions.
Jacob will hold a camp about Mikhail Tal between the 14th and 18th of July. During this time, he will also create special homework sheets that will contain puzzles from Tal’s games. They will be uploaded on the Summer Homework page and will replace the friendly and killer homework files that week. The camp will be completely free for all members of the academy!
Yahli won his last game and finished on a small plus in Dubai.
Tarun Kanyamarala won the Thomson Masters – Drogheda Congress 2025Â with 5/6, the 3rd tournament in a row that he wins! Trisha finished 5th, with 4/6. Both are now playing in Munchen and doing very well. Tarun just drew GM Anton Korobov and Trisha is gaining 21 rating points after 4 rounds, with a 2416 rating performance.
Benasque Open is approaching. The dates are 4th to 13th of July. If anyone wants to play and has any questions or needs info about how to get there, contact Raluca. She will be part of the organising team and can help with anything you need.
