Jacob was the Chairman of FIDE’s Trainer Commission from 2018-2020 and instrumental in changing the way the awards were decided. In the past, the biggest winners of the awards were the Chairman and especially the Secretary of the Commission. The awards are now truly independent. During Jacob’s tenure, he and the Secretary never put themselves up for anything. The new Chairman was nominated in a category this year, but did not win.
