By defeating Renier Castellanos in the final on tie-breaks, the 20-year-old player, rated 2198, from New Delhi, created a big upset in the Club Championship. Earlier in the tournament he had eliminated Christopher Yoo, which was a strong favourite in some people’s eyes. Renier had qualified to the final by defeated GM Jacob Aagaard and (IM) Shahil Dey.
